Funnily enough, i was thinking just before I saw this post wherher you’d venture outside again! You did this with an O gauge incarnation?

I find that they come to me in the shower, first thing. Obviously the same “chew it over, overnight” process going on.

Whereas I get some really stunning ideas in the middle of the night, on those occasions when I’m not sleeping too well, but I just can’t remember what they were when I wake up again in the morning…

It's hard to believe the foundations for my shed were laid down 20 years ago on 17th April 2006. And I still haven't a working layout....



Shortly after, an Austerity was purchased and detailed to match one I fired at Lees MPD. I didn't know about model railway forums and so Peco Code 100 ruled.....

Frame made from previously used 4" x 1" planed timber. Unplaned 6" x 1" timber used on top with 2" x 1" planed timber surround...



Planks are 12mm apart for drainage. The surround will catch derailments! It is all creosoted...

The internal loop and baseboard were removed and the 'mainline' extended to the hole in the shed wall. Moving back the overbridge has altered the whole balance of the layout...



It was fortuitous that the sharply curved siding adjacent to the backscene was formed with a Peco 2ft radius track template, and so I was able to slot in a 2ft radius small Y point. It looks like a catch point at the mo, but all will be revealed....

The water tank was always an integral part of my 4mm layouts and so a siding was laid, which once led to an engine shed. The coaling and watering facilities were left intact when the shed closed in 1930.

It all remains to be wired up and weathered ...

To add a bit more interest you could always have the remaining foundations of the engine shed and a filled in pit as seen at Westerham.

Decent weather saw me wiring track. Couldn't be simpler, but there was a short somewhere. I dug up a point and laid a different one after testing. Great. Then another short occurred at the crossover. It can only be another dodgy point, so I've locked up for tonight.

Your doing your bit for the planet by recycling, well done Larry . Probably doesn't make you feel any happier though .

As soon as I looked at the wiring this morning, the fault was obvious. Brain fog strikes again! Two wires were quickly disconnected and all was well. I can get on with the track weathering now.

The garden loop was nailed down today using Peco Settrack as a template...



Spray-weathering the track gave the mix of used points and new bullhead track a homogenous appearance. Rail sides will be brush painted tomorrow...

Armed with Antibiotics for tooth abscess, I had a day painting the rails. The dark track is where engines regularly stood beside the signalbox...



The short length of dodgy track in front of the goods shed door will be filled in eventually...


The GWR Small Prairie is on the loco shed road. At the moment, the shed "was demolished"...


The coal & watering facilities were useful, but there was no turntable...


The goods yard is Plan B (!) with the goods shed not obscuring the signalmans view...


Handy siding to store empty stock etc...
