Alan,

Just looking at your backscene roofline, have you thought of putting television aerials on the chimney stacks - they were a very obvious accoutrement on late 50s/60s buildings in the days of analogue VHF television.

Some examples, and they were large. :)

The ones up the hill are very kitbashed American and continental Kits I refer you to post 569 on page 28. to see the original of several of the houses.

Thanks Alan.

BTW, one thing we should all do but overlook when taking these realistic pictures...myself included..is to file off the mould ridge across the buffers...so easily overlooked :)

The old 405 line VHF type as in the pictures, these can still be seen on chimneys today. 625 line UHF aerials would not have appeared until BBC2 was launched in 1964.

This is what I remember them looking like. Leeds 1970 from the National Media Museum Collection.

Cracking picture Dave, but I hope that road wasn't on a bus route, otherwise that washing wouldn't have lasted long! Come to think of it, neither would the car nearest the camera, but as there appears to be a driver in it, perhaps he was just performing a three point turn? You don't see children walking around with toy guns anymore either....

Thanks chaps for the info on TV aerials. Just confirmed my memory. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the very early ones an "H" shape as well as the "X" shape?
