Another successful running session with some guest diesels this time. It was great to welcome some old friends that have not seen Basford North before. We managed to run the time table from 13:20 to midnight - well done chaps!

Mineral trains pass at the East end of the complex.

Late 25's appeared on the line in later years running trains to Stanton.

As ever - good weather has kept me away from the railway roomm..

One of the problems we came across during the running sessions, is that the signals at the end of the layout are side on to the operators, so the position of the arm is difficult to see. I've now installed repeater LED's to make it more clear..

Hi Tony,

A very enjoyable afternoon we all had. I think we did quite well to get through 7.5hrs of the TT, I'm not sure we've covered that much of it before. As you say the cake was very nice!!!!

All the best,

Kevin

I've made some additions to the control panel. The signalman at Basford North can now see 'train in section' indicators activated by the next signal box ( ie storage yard ). Once the train has arrived at Basford the indicator can be cancelled at this panel. We've had confusion with new operators when the signalman is not sure wheree the next train is approaching from!

I've started making up telegraph poles for Basford, with four pole routes, there is quite a variety in the numbers of arms.. I started off with Peco ones , but they are not cost effective for this amount of variation, so I'm using 3D printed arms and plastic rod.

Minor details- there are a few of these boxes ( I scratched them up from plasticard ) and posts dotted around. Phone maybe? but it is not near a signal...

I notice that posts sited where wires change direction have 'J' irons for the wire insulators. I'm not sure why, but someone with better vintage S&T knowledge might know. So this is my attempt at replicating this, making the irons from 0.45mm wire and using Peco insulators.Fortunately these ar on the far side of the layout to avoid close scrutiny..... This my test piece... well it might actually get used!
