It is as Dave Holt says above the part fits between the chassis side and the bracket 131.
This photo is from my BR2 tender from one of my 4mt kits it has a very similar part. I hope it helps the pictures not the best quality as it's a phone pic to show something else.

I agree with Dave, but fortunately 3 of my 4 tenders do not have a water scoop so I don't need to fit this on those.

It's now June and I have been fixing the body parts together, I have to say that I admire Dave Sharpe's work he has done with the tender you can assemble it using the tabs with-out solding it so you can see if it lines out properly. I think I have the later kit as I have been reading Richard Carr builds and there is section about building the locker part separate from the other parts.

Just finish the locker top part, you need to not bend the lower part of 88 other wise part 038, 39, 042 and 043 will not fit.

All looking very neat, Len. The tab construction is an excellent idea allowing everything to be positioned and adjusted before fixing with solder. Much easier to un-twist a few tabs than to try to re-position soldered parts.
Just a thought. Unlike LMS Stanier tenders, the turn-ins at the top of BR Standard tender side are curved right to the edge - hard to form in a model. It might just be the photo, but your look to have tighter radius and then a flat towards the top edge - as per LMS.

I have fitted the rest of the front of the doors but you need to trim the inside to fit the coal doors but it is tight, going to be ages to fix this I should have done this first before I solder it.

I have finished the front doors, had to take them apart and trim the tabs so they wouldn't intrude on the inside.

Just finished the roof, took a while to do (not as quick as Richard Carr).

Not as quick as I would like because I have Sciatica and find it hard to move around.

5th of August and it's bloody hot hear 30° and I have to get around in this.
Manage to get this done it was a bit of a pain in the bum to do as there is only two ledges either side, and if you move it doesn't work.
on word and upward.

13th of August and slowly getting on with the tender, (it's a good job they weren't as slow as me as Diesel's would have taken over before I have finished). I had to redo the coal spraying equipment as it didn't look right.
finished the coal scuttle, that was a job making the door slide. I don't know if the door should be a bit higher (but I won't be doing it).
Just the Fall Plate do next, then attach it to the rest of the body.

It's really hard doing this on a phone.

Done the fall-plate and the water scoop and brake handles, and fixed the water valve, just got to fixed it to the body.

Just to let everyone know that we are moving in October, so I wont be doing anything to the fist week in October. At the same time I was talking to the other half about giving up model making as there is to much packing up to, so I will giving up making my locomotives and all my tools and books will have to go as well. My 9F will be the last

Ditto, yes do not give up Len. I have moved 4 times including 3 years in France since 2004 and like Dan still have all my tools and equipment.
