Printed for me by a friend , nice kits, mine have brass roofs.

I am not sure if they ever had the Cast Fish/Fruit Plates fitted. The Tatlow photos I have based mine on do not show them fitted.

I have put up a new 3D model on the GNRS website (GNR Director’s Saloon (D14) – The Great Northern Railway Society). The model represents the GNR Director's Saloon which can be printed in original condition as built by the GNR or as refurbished and preserved on the Bluebell Railway:


The model above was printed on an Anycubic Mono X resin printer, orientated at 25 degrees on the Z axis and parallel to the build plate. At 25 degrees it just fits on my build plate (with some clipping of the support rafts) and reduces considerably any stepping. The model has been given a single spray coat of Autotek Filler Primer.

The model is supplied as a kit of parts with individual parts being capable or being orientated to suit your printer.


The printed model has had the ends, sides, roof and all partitions combined into a single unit with the underframe being printed separately.

A new 3D Model has been uploaded to the GNRS 3D Models free download area: GNR 9 Ton 6 Plank Open Wagon V01 – The Great Northern Railway Society

The model represents a GNR 9 Ton 6 Plank Open Wagon comprising 9'6" wheelbase, 15'0" over headstocks and 5' doorway. Unlike previous uploads I have also included pre-supported versions of the files all of which have been proved on my Anycubic Mono X using Anycubic ABS-Like Pro 2 resin. Since printing the model below I have added optional 3D buffer heads to the model. Hope you like.

The model is 4mm scale so it will need scaling by 175 %. I suspect you would be better off adding your own supports rather than using the pre-supported files.

I found a very similar looking 10T one with outside diagonal strapping that seems to date from 1919.

I really want pre 1905 wagons, but I model later periods too!

I suspect Mike will continue (?) with the very similar 5-plank, 4-plank and 3-plank wagons and they were certainly pre-1905, the 4-plank being very common.

Same body, underframe, axleguides and boxes.... single brake block operated on one side only?

Basically the underframes started with single brake block operated on one side only to two brake blocks operated from both sides but from the same end to the version in my model with two brake shoes, operated from both sides from the right hand end.

There are certainly some 4 plank wagons on the earlier arrangement but I have not seen a 6 plank. At various times the GNR marked the earlier arrangements obsolete.

No idea on dates.
