Thanks Rob. The Roco paint is better but it looks close otherwise. Both have overly heavy side handrails but the MTB grabs on the body are finer. The MTB glazing looks less prismatic and the light surrounds are more subtle. Roco have done better with the checker plate on the walkways. If the running quality is similar it looks like either would do.Right, here we go. Roco with handrails around the front, MTB without.

Typically British , grey and overcast .Morning all.
Progress of sorts with the gluing of the MDF top to the board now complete.

There is just a small 'island' to add to the front edge of the board, once I decide the best place for it in terms of sight lines.
Fiddle yard exit is to the bottom of the image.

Very very nice thank you for sharing guys.
I particularly like the very open narrow gauge terminus, any idea what it is called? It has a very open feel to it a bit like the VOR.
Cheers Julian
Shocking, absolutely shocking,
There aren't even any other railways that can compare!

Nice, looking forward to seeing this one come to life.

Most attractive set of locos, Rob, in an equally beautifully modelled setting.
Coincidentally, and especially with your kind allusion to my train set, and also with regard to your proposal of setting it in a bygone age of beautifully liveried locos as per your collection, it was my original intention to set it ‘pre-grouping’ as you intend, spared on by the following images I found online whilst in the planning stage:

Apologies, but apart from the marked image, I’m not sure where I found them as I was merely storing them for reference (I squirrelled away several more!).
However, the outlay on materials for construction to the point of getting it up and running alone, prohibited further (and considerable) investment in a large number of pre-grouping liveried locos and stock which would be required to convey the illusion of a Capital City terminus, soon put paid to that
If only for my benefit, Rob, please make it happen
Jon
Hi Rob, I had noted the Bleat background. The aborted last year slipped me by hence I jumped to the incorrect conclusion something was taking shape.Morning Ade.
Thank you, but I wouldn't get too comfortable. The images above show some of the SE&CR stock posed on other layouts.
The top two are on Bleat Wharf. The bottom two are on a project aborted last year ( I think ).
Any SE&CR build will most likely progress at the now customary molluscesque pace.
Worth bearing in mind that I've not actually completed a layout since 2022. That's shocking, especially where you consider that before that, four came to fruition between 2015 and 2020.
I'm just saying......
Rob
