Table top milling machine - who has bought one recently?

Maybe I have got the wrong end of the stick... I thought that a WT-er had posted recently about buying a Proxxon mill and yet I cannot find the post (or at least the forum search facility has not revealed the relevant topic).

The point of interest in the post of interest is that the mill was bought from somewhere in Europe and at a significant reduction on the UK price.

I hope that someone can point me in the direction of the appropriate post / topic.

thank you, Graham

Graham,

Can I humbly suggest you look at Arc Euro Trade who have a far more substantial mill for around £130 more more complete with extra stuff thrown in. They occasionally have sales on and I managed to get mine for around £330 including several extras.

Usual disclaimer, no link other than a happy customer.

Arc Euro Trade are really good for tools, and I use them a lot, but for me the spindle speed of the Proxxon made it a 'no-brainer' it would seem to depend on what you need the machine for...

Yes... and no.

The words in the post that you referenced seemed to be familiar, very much so and yet not quite as I remember the post that I read. Looking sideways I searched through another recent topic by the same author and was pleased to find what had sparked the original post of this topic.

Here is the text from your link:-

"my workshop has had to have a serious tidy up as a result of having to make space on the workbench for my newly acquired milling machine. (For the curious, a Proxxon FF230, imported directly from Germany as that was well over £100 cheaper than buying one in the UK, even allowing for the shipping cost.)"

whilst here is the text that I read recently:-

"having having acquired a rather nice Proxxon vertical mill last year (direct from Germany at less than the prices being offered by the UK agents, even allowing for shipping costs), I elected to use the mill."

which came from this post .

OK, so I got the wrong forum - I shall plead insanity and all of you are going to agree on that.

Thanks Dave.
