There's something about "ugly" locos that is strangely attractive. Not sure I'd classify a 4F as ugly, but I'm a big fan of WD 2-8-0s, ex-NER Q5/2s and ex-L&Y large-boilered 0-8-0s, none of which could be described as "cute".

I remember @Stevers saying years ago that an attractive 4F is a Q (he has a point). Something pleasingly straightforward about those big eight coupled things: lots of wheels, chunky boiler, motion hidden betwixt the frames. Uncomplicated.

I just like Sentinels.
