Models finished in 2012

Managed to get a fair few bits and pieces finished this year but a couple of my favourites are this Crane traction engine and timber pole wagon. The traction engine uses refined castings from(I think) Fleetline for wheels and boiler with additions in wire, etch waste and plasticard. The pole wagon is scratchbuilt.

I have had a very productive year to date finishing

Nellie
Nellieinallherglory014.jpg

Parkside LMS Meat van - completed
Parkside infitted LNER Cattle completed
LNER Refrigerator van just needs transfers
NBR Brake van well on it's way

Scratch built Class B tank - needs finishing

I have also built and painted but not added transfers to:

Parkside LNER Double Bolster
Parkside LNER Plate Wagon
Slaters Midland 5 plank wagon
Parkside LNER 12 ton van
Parkside LNER Fitted Cattle wagon
Parkside 20 ton hopper wagon.

Nearly completed this year are

Parkside GWR Horse box - still needs final details and painting
Parkside LNER Horse box - ditto

I have also made some progress on lining the S&D horse box that I painted at the beginning of the year - I am not awaiting a can of Humbrol black gloss thickening up enough to use through the bow pen - it been open now for about 4 weeks....

My biggest disappointments are not finishing the A3 or the 06 but better luck next year as I seem to be struggling to finish a tender engine....

You have my deepest sympathy, Phill.:( I'm rather glad I didn't want one myself.
Hi Jordan & Merry Christmas:)

They are going to move the headcode box apparently & make a few other mods, so I will see what the production version looks like before I decide, but if Dapol decide to do a scaled up version of their 4mm Western they will wipe the floor with them IMO.

While a lot of us owe Heljan a debt for pioneering RTR diesels in 7mm, the continual gaffs they make & way they brush aside complaints from customers on both accuracy & design faults such as the splitting plastic gears means my Patience as a customer is waring rather thin with them I'm afraid :(

I would have thought most of the inaccuracy's across the range could be avoided simply by making CAD drawings available on the net & in magazines before committing to production (like Dapol do)

Returning (briefly) to the point of the thread, I think I've managed to complete the following:

Building 2 Impetus industrials and refurbishing a third (see below), numerous wagons including scratchbuilt Coil H, SR designed Shoc High, a clutch of 16 tonners, refitting a couple of other wagons and a handful of lorries. There's probably a couple of other things too. I don't know how many of these were actually started this year - none of the loco's were for sure...

Disappointments? Not finishing several items (a class 74 - which is too close to being done - a couple of monobloc tankers, a Hornby Q1 converted to EM...) which need only a little work. Not starting a layout, however small...

Favourites? Probably the Fowler, and the funny little Coil H. Picture of that to follow.

My favourite model of this year was one that I didn't build. I did paint and weather it though - it's the Ixion Manning Wardle H.

Hi Dave, excellent pics. The top one looks like your stood on a footbridge and took the pic, so life like:bowdown:.

Ahem...what about mine? ;)
After talking to Control, it appears that the wagon has been red-carded, something about defective brake gear (actually, missing brake gear), and was stopped down Bow Creek. Yardmaster Dowling might be able to add more.

You have failed to note the sneaky update to post no.#28 of the 2013 thread, here. We cannot have too much excitement in Basilica Fields, the local gentry will get apoplexy.

Hurrah, but not many genteel persons reside in the mean streets of BF.

For anyone thinking 'wot they on about now?'*, Messers Beare built this rather fine tar tub which I painted and decorated for them, and in return they are kindly building one for Basilica. I've just got to find a suitable company in the area in which to clothe it, or I'll be making something up. F. Luent of Khazi Street springs to mind, so as you see, it's imperative I find a real one asap...

*That'll be all of you, then.

F. Luent of Khazi Street springs to mind...

The box is written "Ernest Frederick Fortescue Luent & Daughter, Porcelain Fitters to Nobility, etc..". As far as I can make out, the Chas. Rbts. order book records the wagon livery as "Odourous Brown, Slime-White lettering, shaded black" - to be delivered to "Flushing Creek Sidings", Bow.

   and you were all doing so well.... ah, well, it is Xmas, so maybe we'll humour you this time....

I thought I'd kept it on topic rather well...

Some interesting locos and liveries there by the way. I don't ever see myself modelling the US scene - and I can't say I really know anything about it in the slightest - but there's something big and brutish about the locos and stock that's appealing.
