The coach 7 repair of rather what turned out to be nearly a complete refurbishment is nearly at its end, the past few weeks has really been snagging and varnishing the body
Seen before but the open compartment has been repainted and the fold down seats refurbished
Doors fitted as well as the door furniture, both the doors and upper body have been painted which is one of the extra jobs we have undertaken, and after rubbing down for the umpteenth time the final coat of varnish is being applied
The droplights were refurbished and a special varnish (costing £40 for a small tin) was requested
Most of this side is finished
Yesterday Nigel and myself were refitting the lamp heads and bungs, a bit of redrilling was needed as the original fitting was a bit loose, still a few bits to completely finish, but its nigh on there now and will go back with the correct livery finish
It will now be wrapped up awaiting its return to Woody Bay. The big but is when as they are committed to bring van 23 chassis on the low loader which will take coach 7 back. Trouble is after 6 years the chassis is no where ready.
Most of the workshop is full of coach 7, we have the body frame of van 23 ready for priming, just the four corner posts to be finished, so things will be a bit squashed for a while
Its Gala weekend this weekend Steve and Dave will be at Woody Bay and hopefully will be pressuring them to finally get van 23 chassis finished
Anyone in the south east wanting to see the coach prior to its return, its in Colchester PM me if you want to have a look
