There is an article about Love Lane in the latest issue of the Scale7 Group's Newsletter (No 143). Members can download it from the member's area of the website or wait for Royal Mail to deliver their printed copy. Non-members will have to join the society. Go on, you know it makes sense...

The ex-GER cottages in, more or less, their final position. Much of the morning was spent trying to level the expanded foam groundworks so that the cottages sat flat and level.

The latest piece of trackwork: a 1 in 7 (centre line measure) turnout with a 12ft straight-cut straight-planed joggled switch. All chairs are (will be) resin 3d printed with separate tapered keys.

Approaching the end of a marathon task: adding keys to what seemed like thousands of chairs. There are still a few dozen more to add to the exit roads but I ran out of GER chairs so more supplies will need printing.

Another marathon finishing line approaching. Next week Adrian and John @Oz7mm plan to laminate these to the pub walls, the longer one needing to curve around a corner, before adding the decorative beading.

Meanwhile the other "Luvvies" were painting trees, bending downpipes, colouring retaining walls, and fettling iron railings.

A reminder that those of you attending the S7 Spring Meeting (it's not just for S7 springs...) on 25th April will have the opportunity to visit Love Lane. Further details here.

Point work is looking good Dave you'll have to print a chair to sit down in by the time you've finished !
Excellent pub signage

The end is in sight for the Long Lane Bridge Team. Just some more capping bricks, paint and weathering before the retaining walls can be glued into position.

Meanwhile, back at the interlaced turnout, there are no more keys to thread between rail and chair. Most of the chairs in this view are glued in position; the remainder (notably the straight stock rail) will be fixed next week and a start made on the cosmetic features (fishplates, soleplate, bolt heads etc).

Who said no more keys? The chairs for the tandem printed by @Boyblunder from my drawings. Then it's just the three-throw to draw, print and build...

The Godden Arms with some of the laminations temporarily positioned. Once installed upon the layout then only the operators will see this aspect of the building.

Repairs to the stationmaster's garden fence; another operator-only view.

Drain gratings added to the approaches of Long Lane bridge. The smears of DAS will disappear once the final coat(s) of paint and weathering are applied.

A couple of close-up views of the nearly-finished interlaced turnout. Below baseboard works to connect to the servo and DCC system still to be completed started although all the dropper wires are in place.

I've not seen drain gratings laid that way round - you'd think they'd catch cyclists unawares!
Unaware cyclists don’t remain cyclists for long. I am sure I remember plenty of gratings fitted that way when commuting by bike from Clapham South to Oxford Street, and then from Limehouse through the City to near St Bartholomews.

And if you're going to ride in the gutter (which cycle trainers and the Highway Code expressly advise against), you're asking for all kinds of trouble anyway. Quite common to see gratings that way around, however.

Whilst riding her father's bike the vicar's daughter got the front wheel trapped in the drain grating with predictable results.

The nearby workers tidied up their building site in advance of the hoards visiting on the 25th (see below). Just another 30 feet of scenic section for them to tidy next week.
