I like the fact driving distances are included. However, could I point out there are large concentrations of folk living to the south east of that there London. We would need to add at least another 50 to 70 miles to the London-Stafford distance, never mind actually working our way round the capital Before we can properly head north. Perhaps the list should include places like Canterbury and Ashford?

Also why are there no driving distances from Wales????

Will the "advance tickets" entry procedure be sorted out properly this year, so it's not the slow shambles it was last year? :shit:

As long as they're not British Rail advance tickets and valid for a specified entry time - miss yer slot, join t'queue and pay again

Pre-Grouping Railways will not be there this year but we do offer free postage on all UK orders. I'm manufacturing to order on most of our 7mm range.

Hi Jordan,

It was certainly discussed at length earlier this week at a meeting that I attended.
I confess that I don't really know what the underlying issue was last year, so I can't offer any opinions as to whether the proposed changes will help or not.

As far as I could tell, there was only one person, with one scanner for the ticket barcodes, who then had to find our names on a printed list & cross us off. Rather time consuming, so a queue soon built up.
I know advance tickets aren't 'early entry', but queueing for 15 mins or more did seem a bit much. I heard Jackie Kneeshaw saying into her radio the grief she was getting from further back along the line.

I fear adding distances from Ashford would not be helpful, as there is simply no typical average speed that can be applied…

I assume Brock will be active, so that’ll add between 25 minutes and two and a half days hours to the journey, (and worse coming back) the Dartford crossing is predictable (it’ll simply be awful - there was a 14 mile tailback last time I crossed it, happily by motorbike) and going south about the M25 is 50 limits pretty much from the M26 to the M3, as they reinstall the hard shoulders that were removed when our motorways became “smart” :headbang:

in short, it would be very much easier & likely quicker to get to a show in Paris.

to paraphrase Betjeman, Kent is cut off on three sides by the sea, and on the fourth, by the department of transport.

Grumpy of Folkestone
