Diesel detailing parts - where from?

I find I have a few RTR detailing jobs likely to be heading my way. Most of the usual suspects (MMP, JLTRT, PRMRP, etc) can provide for most of the detailing bits and bobs such as buffers, dangly bits, bogie fancification and so on, but one or two bits elude my searches.

The main one is those car-style headlights fitted to Class 26 and 27 locos in Scotland. I'm sure someone makes them, but I can't immediately find them. Any ideas, folks?

Perhaps this thread could become a general list of useful links to detailing parts suppliers.

True. If the list grows, I'll poke an admin to make it sticky in the appropriate place.

@Ian G - thanks for that. What a horrible web site! It'll take a while to track down what I want, but I shall persevere.

I'm pretty sure that I remember reading that headlights used on the Scottish loco's have been sourced from Cararama model cars namely the Mini

I've had a fruitless rummage around the Cararama site. I think my best option might be to buy up a batch of their (or Oxford) 43rd scale Minis when I see them at shows.

I might fire an email to Oxford to see if I can acquire the headlamp parts on their own. They've usually been helpful with other enquiries.

I'm sure Brian Daniels will be along with a recommendation soon, as he's fitted car type headlights to some of his Scottish locos.

Heather,

I have been on a similar journey in regard to Cl. 37/4 engines... the best which I have seen are those which Martin (@Pugsley) has used for his refurbished 37/4. Whilst Martin has advised me where to get those lights I shall need time to find the relavent post - you may get an answer sooner if you ask directly.

regards, Graham

I used Cararama Mini headlights. I bought a pack of three Mini's that were cheap enough to nick the lights out of. I don't remember where I bought them but it was following an internet search.

Apologies to @Ian G but the BRM site is rubbish. Nothing for 1/43rd scale, and the link to the UK sales (Pendle Slot Racing) yielded nothing of use either.

:(

I will keep searching, pending information from @Pugsley and @Brian Daniels.

EDIT: Thanks Richard. I'll keep an eye out for Cararama and Oxford stuff at shows. As you say, they're cheap enough.

I will have a nose through the air/military after market parts, I'm thinking of nose wheel lights.

Heather,
Have you looked for MV lenses?
I haven't found a website for them but Internet searches for 'MV lenses' or 'MV products' found what I was expecting...
Walthers are a good source.

Little Cars was where I got mine from, they did lenses in a variety of sizes. They were designed for use with car kits, so have a foil backing, but this is easily removed to use them as a lens. The company seems to have morphed into something slightly different:

It may be worth getting in touch with them to see if they still do them.
