Dapol D63xx/class22

I really hope they do one in 7mm.
I could find a home for one on Ranelagh bridge.

It would be a good choice with a lot of work already done to produce the superb 4mm version & a Western region loco suitable for diesel & steam era modelers would be a popular choice too I would have thought, especially as no good class 22 kit is available either in 7mm.

Appologies to Westernfan for the hi-jack, but, just another note that it is rumoured that Dapol will also be taking over production of these little beaties as well (they have already announced that they are taking over the Ixion Manor)

Time to start planning for Easingwold I believe.

Hi Mike no worries :)
The buffer shanks do look a tad over-long, but other than that I think it looks spectacular! Puts a certain O scale kit in the shade, for sure.... I should imagine it'll be the death of the Silver Fox kit, too... IIRC the S.F. kit is over £100 itself?

Re sf prices thats one of the reasons i chopped up a harry potter mk1 coach to make an inspection saloon the sf rtr version costs over £80 and you dont get very much for your money. i never liked the sf 22

Dapol moving into the o gauge market can only be good for the senior scale but PLEASE DAPOL RELEASE A 7MM SCALE 4 WHEEL AC CARS RAILBUS it would sell like hot cakes

i do have an issue with my 4mm dapol 22, the gear sets are noisy but the model still gets a gold star from me. Dapols N gauge bubble cars are a nice touch as well and their hymek sets with milk tankers sold well i reckon Dapol Dave should be invited to start a thread on this forum as dapol seem to lean towards western region ;)

Must admit I'm very happy with mine. I bought it before the show opened on Sat am at the NEC and ran it for a bit on Potterbourne before the punters came in. For a straight out of the box with no running in I was impressed with its slow speed creep.

I didn't say a thing :) mind you it is very mild for the time of year.....

Just as well our oil guzzlingboiler has packed up and its a month to wait for the parts to come in the meantime the wood burner working overtime.

re the debate of rtr v kit building , i think theres room for both in 7mm . but if dapol can turn out acceptable rtr models for the same price as heljan then we the buying public are on to a good thing . there will always be room for the kits as the rtr manufacturers in 7mm wont be able to cover all the models that are available to the 4mm market.

Have Dapol actually confirmed a class 22 in 7mm or is it speculation/reading between the lines etc. I too have to agree that rtr locos are always welcome  I have built kits and bought rtr stock and feel that there has to be a nice balance because of the time factor. I think we would all love alot more modelling time, but sometimes , for whatever reason our time disappears so rtr stock help move projects on without the need to sit and build stuff for hours/days/YEARS:oops:

I think Dapol will be priced below Heljan & a bit more choice/competition in the RTR market will tempt quite a few people to move from 4mm which can only benefit the scale IMO...............but as you say theres a place for Kit & RTR,

No, but loco's are on the cards if you read the RMWeb link that Mike posted & having read that Dapol Dave seems to like WR Hydraulics........so with a lot of work already done on both 22's & Westerns, they are a possibility
