Lovely models running smoothly on well laid track amid superb scenery. I enjoyed the video and espied an LNWR open saloon driving trailer. Couldn't quite make out if it was one of the M49's.

Hi Larry,

My driving trailer is the M56 all third, which a compartmented coach not an open saloon. You weren't thinking of the first coach on the Lime Street passenger by any chance? It is a 50' corridor composite to WCJS Dia 30 but the corridor side could look like an open saloon.

Hi Paul, my technique for the cobbles couldn't be simpler, just hand scribe them with the none blade side of a craft knife. I usually draw one axis like planks then scribe each flag individually trying not to make them too regular - it does result in you being slightly mad at the end of it though...

Cheers
Allan
Cheers, Allan - do you scribe directly onto plain card, or is there some sort of coating? It looks commendably neat.

Hi All,

I'm working on some coaches at the moment:

This is them in their unpainted state. I'm currently in the throes of painting them, which, because of the LNW livery, is a multi day process.

In the meantime, I've just finished another movie:

Hi Allan,
Another excellent video, thank you. With regard to the new coaches you are building, what service will they be used on? I take it the 3 coaches you show will form one train.
I've also seen the LNWR magazine supplement, with your article in. Very interesting.

Cheers,

Kevin

Hi Kevin, Crook Street sees two corridor services currently (I have devious schemes for others in the future), Warrington Bank Quay and Liverpool Lime Street. I plan to mix and match my existing three corridor coaches to make rakes with brakes at both ends, which is more correct for turn-around services.

Ah, that's interesting, looks like like my last update was wiped in the server upgrade. Hey-ho, here it is again:

Hi All,

Thought I'd give an update as I haven't been on here for a while.

I'm still slowly progressing on the coaches. Managed to get the main panelling painted, which in my opinion is the hardest bit, done in an intense 5 day session staring intently through the magnifying light - phew!

I then turned to the insides and the underframes. The double ended brake (D207) is a sidelines kit and the two others (D68 and D306) are Worsley Works bodies only. I wanted to lighten them to assist my weedy little 4-4-0s in hauling them so I cut away the floors and replaced them with my favourite hi-tech building material - Cornflake packet... It all looks a bit Blue Peter at the moment (for viewers of a certain age...), but it should be alright when all sprayed up and painted.

The Sidelines kit came with a fully kitted out underside but for the two Worsley kits I scratch built battery boxes, queen posts and vacuum gear from my scrapbox and I'd ordered a new dynamo for one of them:

Still quite a way to go yet and I hope to get a movie out soon but it's a bit hectic just now as we have the builders in...

Hi Allan,
Those coaches look lovely, probably one of the nicest of the pre-grouping liveries. The underframes are starting to look the part as well. I take it it will run as a 3 coach rake, what service do you envisage them forming?

I'm afraid however that you won't qualify for a Blue Peter badge just yet, as there is no evidence of you using a Fairy Liquid bottle!
;);););)

All the best,

Kevin

P.S. Looking forward to the next video.....hint, hint!

Thanks Kevin, yeah, they'll be on a three coach rake, I don't have room for more! I plan to mix and match with my existing coaches and they'll run on my Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington services. I have devious plans for further services, or at least the Crook Street portions thereof, to be joined into a larger train at mainline stations. A fair bit more building to do yet.

The next movie is being filmed as we speak, I'm off down the cellar to carry on with it in a minute...

I'll have to use more sticky back plastic though...;)

Cheers
