7724 finally back together after 2 years or more!
I’ve used howes weathered black as a base as it’s going to be heavily weathered.
Next job is a small gloss patch and the early BR crest transfers in their off set position and paint the new cast steam and Vac pipes. Good to finally have it back together and the first Pontypool Road 86G loco in the collection.

The big Fairburn, the only one allocated in south wales at Swansea to supplement the fowler tanks with a new coat of paint and lining. She was a regular up and down the south wales main line often on the workman’s train to Margam.
After her days were over in south wales she moved to Wilsden shed in London in 62
We will assume she’s on a transitioning move stopping off in Cardiff along the way. IMG_1788.pngIMG_1787.png

No argument with your correction Adam. I was simply using the info in the photo caption (which I’ve now corrected!). The sulphuric acid was a by-product of the sintering process used during the smelting of zinc at the Llansamlet plant.

MD Modelling supplied and fitted ATC pick ups on the pony wheels of my 38xx and 52 tank.
The 38 just needs new couplings and ATC conduit added and a repaint the 52 is a full strip down and rebuild using castings from Warren Shephard some lovely 3D printed parts from Mick, CPL couplings and Mitchell etch mud hole covers plus some additional pick ups then a repaint in BR black.
Severn mill plates for both locosIMG_2386.jpegIMG_2385.jpegIMG_2387.jpeg

I’ve got a nice colour shot of 4593 on shed at Canton with a brass safety valve bonnet so that will need addressing.
