At the risk of bombing Steve's thread here's a photo I took of 5961 at Southall on 2nd May 1965. By this time in less than sparkling condition for sure although still with a cab side number plate but no name plate, smokebox door plate or shed code.Hi Steve,
I've been enjoying this thread - fine modelling and great loco pictures - and I've been hoping you might turn up one of 5961 Toynbee Hall. I am modelling this loco in 4mm, having taken over a part completed scratchbuild from a friend.
Toynbee Hall was outshopped from Swindon with a Hawksworth 4000 gallon tender in sparkling condition June 1962 and returned to Canton. I am not sure how much engine cleaning was being done at Canton by that time, as a couple of pictures I do have seem to suggest it got grubby fairly quickly.

I do, full inside working valve gear as well.Very nice, I didn’t know you had a Baby Castle ..
The scenic part is 6’ x 3’Steve, what is the size of the layout?
Ooh, it looks bigger than that? The scenic part is 6’ x 3’
I’ve yet to add the cassette and control board.

Many thanks, I kept thinking they looked a bit big compared to the picture I’ve got of the real loco, I think I’ll get some Fox transfers numerals for it.Hello Steve. The Scots were known for using large numerals - see pic of Black 5 below (a St Rollox engine) - I've found a pic of 45272 finished by "The Tower Collection" which uses the standard-sized text (as on the Jubilee) : Fully Finished Loco's | towercollection
Are you working from a photograph? Cheers.
