Very unusual occurrence - two light railway locos visiting the BR yard at Capel Bethesda:

The preserved ex-GW 2-4-0T 'Lady Margaret' arrives at Capel Bethesda with the local goods working, prior to being hauled up the valley via the light railway for further restoration at the Army depot at Llanddewi:

Personally, I would go for a WD 2-8-0. Where I grew up in Lancs, clanking Austerity 2-8-0s were as familiar as the sound of pre-war Leyland buses and clogs. I had considered one for Llanfair under Rule 1 until Dapol announced a new 28xx...

As the 1960s wore on, the influence of the London Midland Region grew in this part of Herefordshire, as the occasional diesel substituted for the normal steam diagram. Expensive, as two crews were necessary, one to drive the thing and the usual steam crew to pilot the diesel crew.
The loco was expertly weathered for me by Tom Foster.

Most impressive.
I particularly like the Smokey black colour that’s covered the boiler, footplate and smoke box.
Reminiscent of those I see in the colour videos from the last days of steam at Waterloo, which I seem to watch on a loop.

I've just spent an enjoyable hour or so looking back through the thread, largely prompted by the reference in post #948 to Herefordshire, as we now live there, albeit in the South East of the county.
I've just realised that your "likeometer" will probably have gone into overload...thanks for the inspiration.
