It had them when I got the car but soon went out the window :D, electric wipers fitted :thumbs:.
Column shifter on a three speed box, bench seats back and front so your bird could slide up to you and get up to all sorts while you're trying to drive !:eek::):D

I also had on in the early 1970s. The Dominator & Watsonian side car had gone for a Mini Traveler. Then a 3rd child so the Consul. Finished in LMS Maroon.
If it's any consolation my hair progress was about the same.

Dad had the Zodiac version, bought around 1965 and sold on in the early 70s. Column shift as described above plus overdrive with electric operation. The car was used for several family holiday trips to Rimini and Ravenna.

I think that this was the first car that I drove.... along Pendine Sands.

The first time I drove on the M1 when it was brand new back in the early 60's it was driving my dad's green consul it also had the bench seats and my little sister told my dad that I did 100 miles per hour he was ticked. fond memories.

Like many older ones I have hundreds of motorway trips on bike and in car.
A couple if outstanding ones. I swapped a Honda 500T (500cc twin) for a BMW R60 (600cc horizontal twin) I was on the M42 going well and glanced at the speedo, shock I was clocking just over 90MPH. The reason, I was listening to the engine sound and the BMW revs much lower than the Honda.
The other was in 1971 I traveled from London Victoria to Birmingham Digbeth on the Midland Red motorway bus. Built in the company's own Ladywood B'ham work shop they had to top speed of well over 90mph and where quicker than most cars. I had a front seat opposite the driver and could see everything. His anticipation was fantastic at working out where the spaces where likely to be and the journey was both quick and very smooth. Very little traffic and no speed or lane limits back then.

I think your memory might be playing tricks. The 70mph speed limit became a permanent feature in 1967!

I was regularly driving up and down the M4 between Yate and Denham in the 1990s and 2000s and I remember the rules seemed to be that the inside lane speed was what the commercial's governors dictated, the middle lane was 70 and the outer lane was "what have you". :):):) Got passed one night in the middle lane doing 70 and the other car was probably doing about 70 relative to me.
