Tarring Neville and Littledene

Great photos, Andy...very much remind me of some of the photos in the Middleton Press "Industrial Railways of the South East" album.
Simon.

Cheers Simon, That book, Gordon Edgar's brilliant books and a few others all helped when I was doing research. I've actually started work on the next part of Tarring Neville which will be the narrow gauge line in from the chalk pits to the cement works.

I'd forgotten about Gordon Edgar's books...I've got the volume on Yorkshire and will be referring to it soon as I want to do a bit of scenic fettling on my 0-14 layout which is based on a Sewage Works line near Bradford. It's nice to see some Sussex-based industrial modelling; it's perhaps not the first place many would associate with industrial railways, but of course it had many. I look forward to seeing progress with the narrow gauge!
Cheers,
Simon.

I love the Gordon Edgar books. I'm lucky enough to have the full set, with the annoying exception of the South West one. Most of them picked up secondhand over the last few years, and all at reduced price. They are wonderfully inspiring books... I just need to find that missing volume one day!

Yeah people seem to forget the amount of industrial stuff in Sussex and there was quite a range of industries too.

I'm glad I picked them all up when I did. I know there are few that are now hard to find. His Flickr site can distract me for hours at a time too.

I had decided that I didn't need any more coaches for Littledene. Two Stroudley's converted from Hornby Generic, two 6 wheel LCDR Brake 3rds, One 6 wheel LCDR Full Brake and the 6 wheel LNWR Saloon plus the Ford railcar is more than enough for a little light railway in Sussex that no one has ever heard of right!

Oops...
First up is a LCDR 6 wheel saloon. This came to me already built but had had the corridor connector removed. I wanted to keep the SECR Wellington Brown livery which meant that some paint matching and renumbering was required. Paint matching took a bit of working out and was done mixing Vallejo paints. Numbers were replaced with Fox Transfers. I may redo the rest of the transfers before weathering.

Next up was a Roxey Mouldings kit for a LCDR 26ft Full 3rd. I wanted to add early SECR style lamp pots but no one seems to produce them. Mr Roxey said the LSWR ones are fairly close so thats what I've used. This will also receive SECR livery but will be Dark Lake.

Last up for now is a Branchlines kit for a LBSCR 6 wheel Full Brake. This just needs castings fitting and a few other details then its ready for paint. The wheels are temporary as I'm waiting for some spoked ones to turn up. This will be going into SR Green. I also have a Branchlines kit for a LCDR 6 wheel Full Brake with the central birdcage lookout to built. So much for not needing any more coaches.
