I'm back in Chicago again, I flew in last Thursday and drove to Fort Wayne IN for the night. The plan was to explore the Napoleon Defiance and Western again and hopefully film some action.
I started off at NS yard at New Haven, I was hoping to catch a local heading to the NWD to take some cars to them at Woodburn about 5 or 6 miles east.
Just after I arrived this showed up arriving off the Wabash line from Detroit.
It's just after 7 and only just getting light.

And an ACe on the back and one of those in heritage livery too.

I didn't have time to setup the video camera for this as it literally arrived as I parked up.
Then I noticed this

and yes it was starting to move

This is what I was hoping for a local pushing freight cars in the direction of the NWD.

I was fairly certain it was going to the NWD so I jumped back int he car and set off after him. I passed it about a mile up the road, then I got stuck at traffic lights as it went by then I saw another siding by factories that had boxcars and wonder if that was as far as he was going, but carried on anyway.
After about 3 miles the connection to the NWD branches off the main line that is heading to Bellevue and heads diagonally to the NWD.
All the roads run north south or east west so nothing parallels the railway. So I turned left and headed north on one that would cross the railroad in a mile or so. As I passed over the crossing you could see the train not far away.

By this point it's only allowed to do 10mph so getting ahead of it was easy, so I headed north again and then east until I got to another crossing.

The drop off point is where the line splits to go to the BF Goodrich Tyre factory a couple of miles further up the line.
SO I headed up towards there finding it by pure luck. Here it's dropped them off, just beyond the switch, the line to the tyre factory carries on across the fields to the left for a couple of miles going under route 24. I filmed all the switching action so you will need to watch the video for that.

The loco took the caboose and went off to the tyre factory, it would probably be there for a while, so now it was off to find the NWD in action.
